IVF with ICSI

In vitro fertilization (IVF) is a technique that allows fertilization of eggs outside the body. Intracytoplasmic sperm injection (ICSI) is a specialized method used in combination with IVF to assist fertilization, especially when sperm are unable to naturally penetrate the egg.

Explanations

IVF (In vitro fertilization)

Eggs are retrieved from the woman, and fertilization occurs in the laboratory using sperm.

Eggs and sperm are mixed in a special dish, and fertilization happens spontaneously.

IVF is used for various forms of infertility, such as ovulation problems, fallopian tube damage, or endometriosis.

ICSI (Intracytoplasmic sperm injection)

This technique is applied together with IVF.

In ICSI, a single sperm is directly injected into the egg by an experienced embryologist.

ICSI is used when there are severe male infertility factors, such as low motility, low sperm count, or abnormal morphology.

Advantages of ICSI

Allows fertilization even when sperm quality is reduced.

Can increase the chances of successful fertilization in cases of male infertility.

When is ICSI the right choice?

  • When the man has a low sperm count, poor motility, or abnormal sperm structure

  • When there are ejaculation problems

  • When the man has undergone surgical sperm retrieval (e.g., after vasectomy)
